Inspired by driving toward the city from the west at sunrise, when the sky is a sea of gold and cotton candy and the buildings stand like crystals emerging from the dark.  It’s an incredibly serene and pristine moment that feels both fleeting and eternal.

A visit to Slave Lake, Alberta would not be complete without a walk along Devonshire Beach. The eclectic mix of color from weeds, shells, and various species of wood along the shore combined with pools of water reflecting the dramatic sky were so fun to paint.

This is an acrylic painting close up, of two fawns in a field, that I noticed while geo caching in the back roads of Alberta.

I have always been fascinated by the mythical creature, mermaids, and so was my daughter when she was little. When I have nothing else in mind to paint, my mind swims and thinks about mermaids. Maybe subconsciously I thought about my love for swimming and missed the lake back home where there was a superstitious belief that mermaids live.

Deep blue skies and rusty red sands are the perfect backdrop to highlight these magically wild trees that are over 900 years old.
