Art is the Heart of the Home

We are so excited to be launching  a project this year with HomeSpace.  HomeSpace purchased an office building in downtown Calgary and is modifying it to be housing for approximately 200 vulnerable Calgarians.  There will be 82 units in Sierra Place.  The Plaid Moose Gallery with its artists will reach out into the art community to reach a diverse group of artists to work on creating art for a collection.  The tenants of Sierra Place will each be able to select a piece for their home at no cost.

There will also be around 100 children and teens and they will each have the opportunity to select a piece from a unique collection of original art and posters to customize their personal space.

We are so excited to launch this and we will be finding opportunities for others to get involved.  The project will require funding as the intent is to purchase the art from the local artists so that they are also provided recognition financially for their creativity.  The Plaid Moose Gallery has a mandate to support the arts - what better way to meet that mandate.

The Sierra Place is also going to have an art room in its common area for the tenants and their children and this project will also involve purchasing and collecting art supplies for this wonderful creative space.

This project will require support from corporate sponsors and Gallery supporters.  We hope that you will all want to be a part of this amazing opportunity to bring joy to our fellow Calgarians.
