This is a palette knife study of the cornfields against the bright blue skies in the late summer. The piece is based on a photo taken in central Alberta on one of those last warm days of summer. The colour choices are a celebration of all that is wonderful about the work of Van Gogh. The thick texture of the acrylic paint also reminds us of how he would use texture to emote a feeling. In no way am I indicating that this is a painting of the calibre of such a master - but it is a charming reflection of my adoration for all that he brought to the world of art.
