We had the fortunate opportunity of spending a few days this summer on Salt Spring Island. One evening we went to Ruckle Park for a hike to see the ocean. This park is also the site of a working heritage farm. They have free range chickens, roosters and turkeys that you can walk amongst. It was a magical evening. A deer even came into the farmyard to eat some fruit falling from the trees. This hen was sitting quietly watching us and all the antics of her fellow poultry.
