This Copper and Snow Teapot is one of my favourite things I have ever made! The successful building of a well-balanced teapot takes experience, several hours to craft, weeks to dry and a bit of luck….and that is before all the firing and glazing happens! I built this teapot knowing that I wanted to try combining these two glazes somehow but it took me at least two weeks to commit to this particular application and placement of the glazes. In addition, the firing of this copper glaze is finicky and needs a very particular firing schedule to get the crystallization effect that you can see. Opening the kiln that morning after the firing was so exciting I may have done a little dance. Like most pottery, pictures just don’t do this piece justice. At the artist’s request, the gallery will donate $2.00 from this sale to the arts.
